Carpet cleaning techniques used by the best companies

When choosing carpet cleaning services for home or office, there are many choices. But it’s crucial to be familiar with the types of cleaning methods that each company uses.

What are the different types of carpet cleansing available?

Hotwater extraction cleaning

Also known as hot-water extraction carpet cleaning, it uses high-pressure hot water to stir the carpet and remove dirt.

In general, hot water extract cleaning is performed by first applying the cleaning solution to the carpet and then using a brush or agitator. Carpet cleaning machines will then wash the carpet to remove the residue.

Normal carpeted offices of approximately 3000 sq. ft. will typically take around 2 hours and take 4+ hours to completely dry. Most businesses recommend carpet cleaning in late afternoon. This allows the carpet to air dry and resume normal office operations the next day.

Carpet Cleansing

It was common to use shampoo for carpet cleaning until the introduction of encapsulation in the 70s. Shampooing appears to have the ability to thoroughly clean a heavily soiled rug, however, it is less effective than some other techniques due to its shortcomings.

Foam-encapsulation employs synthetic detergents for the base, and when they dry out crystallizes in powder form. After the application of cleaning foam, dirt particles that have been loosely deposited in carpet fibres will be crystallized into powder.

As the foam-encapsulation method uses less moisture during the cleaning process, it is quicker to dry than carpet shampooing. Environmentalists have praised foam encapsulation because less chemical residue is left behind.

This method is able clean carpets well, but it cannot remove heavy soiling due to technology limitations.

Bonnet Cleaning

This process produces good Surface Cleaning results as it involves cleaning the top of the carpet fiber using a heavy-duty motorized machine. A spinning pad has been immersed into cleaning solution in order to remove dirt.

This method is used in many hotels to provide a quick solution to cleaning heavy-traffic areas that need carpeting to be dry and clean quickly.

Since bonneting only cleans the surface, it is easy for carpets to get dirty quickly. Bonneting tends to leave a chemical residue on carpets, as pressure exerted by heavy machines and spinning pads push the chemicals into carpets.

Dry Carpet Clean

Dry carpeting or compound cleaning has become a popular and widely used cleaning process. This is due to the effectiveness of this method and its ease as there is no need for drying. The market has seen many new types of cleaners since 1980. Because this technology has been around for a short time compared to conventional carpet cleaning techniques that have existed and were trusted over decades, some people are still skeptical about the cleaning power of this method.
